Components Affecting Vegetable Waste Reduction Emphasizing on Food Security; View Points of Producers in Hamidiyeh Township A. Abdeshahi [1] , K. Shabani [2] , M. Mousavi [3] , M. Ghanian [4] Received: 3 Mar 2012 Accepted: 4 Jan 2014 Abstract Large amounts of foods and agricultural products that have been produced by cost, labor force, facilities and time are eliminated as waste. Reduction of waste is one of the serious government policies. The purpose of this study was to identify the components affecting vegetable and summer crop waste reduction in Hamidiyeh township of Khuzestan province with emphasis on food security. Survey research was used in this study. Total population of the study were vegetable farmers and summer crop farmers in Hamidiyeh township (N=230) and 132 person of them were selected by Morgan and Trackman's table randomly. According to the factor analysis, factors affecting the waste reduction were instructed in eight items. Based on the results, from the viewpoints of producers, operating support and training were the most important factors affecting waste reduction that indicting the government support and extensional education role.
