| Using of biological control agents, especially parasitoids, within the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs is increasingly expanding. Several factors can influence the effectiveness of parasitoids, the most important of which is the type and availability of suitable host. In this study, the impact of two host species Ephestia kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) and Plodia interpunctella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) on the energy budget and biological performance of Habrobracon hebetor Say (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) was investigated. The results revealed that the levels of protein, lipid, carbohydrate, and glycogen in various life stages of the parasitoid differed significantly depending on the host species. Parasitoids reared on E. kuehniella exhibited higher protein and lipid content, faster development, and a longer lifespan. In contrast, those reared on P. interpunctella showed higher carbohydrate and glycogen levels. Host species also had a significant effect on the biological parameters of the parasitoid. Specifically, intrinsic rate of increase (r), net reproductive rate (R₀), gross reproductive rate (GRR), finite rate of increase (λ), and fecundity were all higher in parasitoids reared on E. kuehniella, indicating greater reproductive potential. Additionally, the pre-adult developmental period, including the larval and pupal stages, was longer in parasitoids fed on P. interpunctella. Based on these findings, E. kuehniella was identified as a more suitable host for H. hebetor, as it enhanced reproductive performance, reduced generation time, and increased the population growth rate. These results suggest that E. kuehniella is an appropriate host for the mass rearing of H. hebetor in biological control programs targeting stored-product pests. | ||

| کاربرد عوامل کنترل بیولوژیک، بهویژه پارازیتوئیدها، در چارچوب برنامههای مدیریت تلفیقی آفات بهطور فزایندهای در حال گسترش است. عوامل متعددی میتوانند بر کارایی پارازیتوئیدها تاثیرگذار باشند که از جمله مهمترین آنها، نوع و در دسترس بودن میزبان است. در این پژوهش اثر دو شبپره میزبان Ephestia kuehniella Zeller (Lep: Pyralidae) وPlodia interpunctella Hubner (Lep: Pyralidae) بر ذخایر انرژی و فراسنجههای زیستی زنبور Habrobracon hebetor Say (Hym: Braconidae) بررسی شد. نتایج نشان داد که میزان پروتئین، لیپید، کربوهیدرات و گلیکوژن در مراحل مختلف زیستی زنبور بسته به نوع میزبان تفاوت معنیداری دارند. زنبورهای پرورشیافته روی E. kuehniella دارای میزان پروتئین و لیپید بالاتر، رشد سریعتر و طول عمر بیشتر بودند. از سوی دیگر، زنبورهای پرورشیافته روی P. interpunctella دارای میزان کربوهیدرات و گلیکوژن بیشتری بودند. همچنین، نوع میزبان اثر معنیداری بر فراسنجههای زیستی زنبور داشت، بهطوریکه نرخ ذاتی رشد (r)، نرخ خالص تولید مثل (R₀)، نرخ ناخالص تولید مثل (GRR)، نرخ متناهی افزایش جمعیت (λ) و تعداد تخم گذاشته شده در زنبورهای پرورش یافته روی E. kuehniella بیشتر بود، که نشان دهنده ظرفیت تولیدمثلی بالاتر آنها است. طول دوره پیش از بلوغ، دوره لاروی و شفیرگی در زنبورهای تغذیهشده از P. interpunctella طولانیتر بود. بر اساس یافتهها، E. kuehniella بهعنوان میزبان برتر برای H. hebetor شناسایی شد، زیرا موجب افزایش باروری، کاهش طول دوره یک نسل و بهبود نرخ رشد آن شد. این نتایج نشان میدهد که E. kuehniella میتواند بهعنوان یک میزبان مناسب برای پرورش انبوه H. hebetor در برنامههای کنترل زیستی آفات انباری مورد استفاده قرار گیرد. | ||
