چکیده
The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of diets supplemented with flaxseed on the reproductive performance in estrous-synchronized 3-year-olds Baluchi ewes. Following the pregnancy and the consequent lambing, the lambs were separated from their mothers upon their birth and the experiment was continued for a period of 60 days after lambing. The experimental diets were divided into six different diets as follows: A) The control group just received a basic ration without flaxseed, B) 2%, C) 5%, D) 7%, E) 10%, and F) 12% flaxseed. Dried matter intake was lower (P< 0.05) in the ewes fed with diet A. The highest average body weight of ewes was recorded for diet A, and the lowest was recorded in ewes fed with diet C (55.2 kg vs 46.4 kg). Estrus rate was similar in all treated groups, all the ewes showed clear signs of estrus up to 4 days after CIDR removal. Ovulation rate was higher for ewes fed with diet A compared with diet C. Supplementing the ewes’ diet with 5% flaxseed caused to increase (P< 0.05) the ovulation rate. The pregnancy rate was high for all the experimental diets compare to the control diet. The highest twinning rate was recorded in the ewes fed with diet B and the lowest pregnancy rate was recorded in ewes fed with 5% flaxseed. Ovulation rate was higher for ewes fed with diet A compared with diet C. Supplementing the ewes’ diet with 5% flaxseed caused to increase (P< 0.05) the ovulation rate. The pregnancy rate was high for all the experimental diets compare to the control diet.
