Abstract | ||
Newly released cultivar Oksin with pedigree of Rojo/Sahra was derived from the cross between foreign cultivar “Rojo” and cultivar “Sahra” as female and male parents, respectively. Selection among segregating populations was performed till pure line stage at Ahvaz station. Based on its high grain yield and yield stability as well as its desirable agronomic characteristics in the experiments, which were conducted from 2006 to 2015, Oksin was released for cultivation in warm regions of Iran. The average grain yield of Oksin in the south and north of Iran is 5148 and 3916 kg/ha, respectively, that is 868 and 160 kg/ha more than grain yields of check cultivars Nimrooz and Sahra, respectively. Oksin is a six-rowed spring barley and its plant height in the south and north of Iran is 81 and 102 cm, respectively. The average of days from sowing to maturity for Oksin in the south and north of Iran is 129 and 162 days, respectively, and its grain filling periods is 41 and 46 days that are longer compared to check cultivars Nimrooz and Sahra, respectively. In addition, it exhibits lodging resistance and non-shattering rachis as well as resistant infection responses to barley stripe and barley leaf spots. | ||
